Wave Basin

Wave Basin: €100,000

Create a large body of moving water on any hard surface. Perfect for film & TV projects.

We offer a modular kit of tank panels that can be assembled on an existing hard surface to create a water body of any size. Demountable. Movable. Safe and versatile.
WAVE BASIN DESIGN
A single-design basin wall module allows us to create wave basins quickly and easily. It is low-cost, because the design and manufacturing process is repeated and refined. Versatile because it is modular and movable.
DEPTH & SAFETY
The wall module creates a wave basin that is nominally 1.2m (4') deep. This is ideal for safety and convenience allowing personnel to access and move freely in the tank, while still being deep enough to take full scale boats.

Wall modules are sized to use standard material sizes for cost effective mass production. They are easily transported, stacked and handled into place by forklift.

EASE OF USE
Wave basin wall modules are simply placed on a secure base, such as a standard concrete slab, no a solid silicone cord, then pinned into place and bolted to the adjoining wall module.

As locations where the slab is uneven a steel lip can be installed to form a straight sealing edge against which a water tight compression seal can be made.

The basin can be filled to the brim. Over spilling water is captured through the walkway grate into the integrated gutter and recycled into the tank, to avoid flooding in the area, and reduce the need for added New Paragraph
TESTIMONIAL
“Having the wave tank at the studio has already saved us a lot of cost and hassle out on location during the winter. OMEY gave us a smart solution in a tight timeline and budget, without hitch. We found them very professional.”
Breda Walsh Production Manager, Vikings IV said:

Vikings is History channel's historical drama television series filmed in Ireland, it premiered on March 3, 2013 in Canada and the United States,

Vikings needed a controlled wave tank environment to shoot boat scenes that called for intense special effects, combining heavy wind, waves and rain.

The tank needed to be set up in front of the 100’ green screen at Ashford Studios in Ireland. To ensure the tank walls weren’t in-shot, the tank had to be filled to the brim and maintain the horizon line during the action.

Vikings used 38 OMEY wave basin wall modules to build their half million litre wave tank. In just four weeks the 85’ x 85’ tank was supplied, fitted and filled.

OMEY prepared and sealed the existing concrete slab before installing a steel rail as an ideal, flat sealing edge under the wall units. OMEY tested the design and fixing up to 6tons of force, a x4 safety factor before installing the rest of the wall modules.

In just four days the complete tank was assembled at the studio and made water tight ready to be filled and filmed.
